
Through technology and creative thinking, African youth are reinventing the future of urban transport
In 2019 the world bank opened its eyes on making innovative investments in Sierra Leone.With their investments the world bank hopes to transform urban transportation in the city of freetown.With a $50 million IDA Grant they plan to work with young local innovators and collaborate with he WBG collaborated with the GoSL’s Directorate of Science, Technology and Innovation (DSTI), the Ministry of Transport and Aviation (MOTA), and SensiTech Innovation Hub in developing . The top three prototypes developed by young innovators were A cashless payment system for public transport with adapted features for persons with disability,A platform for citizens to report road and drainage issues with great impact in flooding mitigation in Freetown,and A bus routing system with emergency response.All the agencies and teams involve will be collaborating for the years to come to implement these structures.
